I'm from Italy and I have the 8 year warranty too.
I had no issues in having the seat cushion replaced, I just went to the dealer, have them looking the seat, and then they got the ok from Honda in 1 day.
The seat arrived a couple of weeks later, I left the car for one day to have it replaced.
So far everything looks even better after 1 year.

So what do they actually change?  The whole seat, just a seat base, or just some reupholstering.   ? Do they do both seats?

My point is, are replaced drivers seat frames with height adjustment mechanism  going into landfill  in RHD  Uk and LHD Europe  when there are customers who might be prepared to pay to have them shipped to countries where they could be rebuilt as an adjustable passenger seat. ?

They changed just the seat base, understandable as changing the whole seat will imply also replacing the central airbag, and I guess much more expensive for Honda.

HI,
I went to the workshop today, but unfortunately with the fact that it is a holiday here in Italy, they only gave me an appointment to return on May 4th.
I'll let you know what they tell me

Hi everyone,
I took the car to the workshop today and they recognized the damage under warranty,
Now the new seat cover has been ordered and when it arrives they call me to do the replacement job.
The thing that has me puzzled is the warranty,
that is, I was told that the work is done under warranty because the car still has its original warranty, while the 8-year extension does not cover the interior of the car.
I was surprised by this statement.

My driver’s side seat squab leatherette side has cracked, exposing the white inner material. The cracking appears to correspond to the area that creases when compressed.
Car is only 1 year old but 24k miles. I’m not a heavy or large person, no physical abrasion as on outer edge of seat, no cleaning products used and never experienced this issue with my previous cars  at later age and higher mileage.
Has anyone else the same issue? Dealer have taken photos and contacting Honda, so await outcome.

Me too.

Have just bought a 3 year old one with 13k on the clock from Grantham Honda and the seat was the same.
They got their trim guy in who repaired it, he did an excellent job.

After reading this thread I noticed that my driver's seat base has a split in the side vinyl fabric.

Can I bear to go through all the faff of getting it repaired under warranty? Grrr.

So far, my 2020 Hybrid Jazz has had the camera recall, a failing passenger side mirror motor, the Brake Simulator Unit failure, and now this split in the driver's seat.

What else is going to break so that I get a full house? I am sick of playing Honda Jazz Bingo.

My 2021 Jazz EX has seat splits on both driver and passenger sides - the same as in photos posted earlier in this thread. I can see posts from Italy saying repair has been carried out under warranty and also one from dannyboi in April 2023 saying the work was done under warranty at Boston Honda Verdu.  Has anyone else in UK been successful with a warranty claim more recently ?

I've found that the most severe wear of the driver's seat in any car I've had, has been on the door side of the edge of the back rest. As you get in, you can brush against this. I make a point of avoiding doing this.
I also think it important that you position the seat so that you can sit well back in it, which prevents you moving about whilst driving, thus adding to a wear problem.
It's not a problem for me as I've not worn jeans since I was forty, but denim is a comparatively rough material and could add to the wear.

Thanks for the response, Sean Regan.  It does seem (from other posts on the forum) that Crosstar seats are somehow different and don't suffer from the same 'cracking / splitting' on the side of the squab as the 'standard' Jazz.  We've had 4 previous Jazz models (dating back to 2003) and never had this problem before, so something has changed!

2021 Jazz Hybrid EX 40,000 miles Original owner
There were several reports of this problem (see photos) a couple of years ago but can't find anything more recently. Some reports from UK, Spain, Italy and Honda Fit in Japan.  Some say repair was done under warranty or 'unfit for purpose'.  Both driver and passenger seats have more or less identical splits/cracks. We're not big or careless: don't have cats in the car, and don't carry razor blades! The problem is that unless you look at the side of the seat squab when it is being pushed down, you wouldn't notice it, but something is wrong!  We've had four previous Jazz and at least a dozen other cars in nearly 60 years of driving and never seen this before.  My initial report to the dealer was given the response 'not covered'.  But I'm not satisfied with that response.  Anyone else have the same issue recently? Might be worth checking in case you haven't noticed it!

It is a well known fact that synthetic leather sooner or later will wither (depending on quality).
I've had chairs that started to crack and "peel" after roughly 5 years - even sooner on the sides exposed to direct sunlight.
Honda (in some cases) seem to have to acknowledged this defect.

So, have you already talked to your dealership of choice about this issue? (what was their response?)

(I kind of seem to "remember" postings about this where it was fixed under warranty - please, don't ask me about where I read this! - I'm reading several international Jazz fora)
