Mk4 - Japanese Modulo X Special Edition
« on: November 22, 2021, 06:33:22 PM »
This is interesting. Would the Jazz be selling more if the front grille treatment had been like this from day one?

Or is this perhaps a taster of how a mid-life refresh would look like?

You can see full details of how it looks (front and rear) on the Honda Japan website here:

https://www.honda.co.jp/Fit/modulox/

What does everyone think?

An alternative option offered (as an accessory) is the "Ness" pack. Two links below show the Jazz with / without the pack...

I can't help but think that customer feedback is to make the front of the Jazz "less cute" and more upmarket (based on this and the Modulo X styling)

Yes, I think they would sell more with a traditional type grill.

The standard one seems to be in the style of a EV as they often have blanked out grills.

I think the normal style grill would like make a small difference to mpg though, as many of the packs listed in the brochure have a small reduction.

The modulox one brings it in line with the new civic.
The current gape reminds me of the older iveco daily.  https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/63/2014_Iveco_Daily_35_S13_MWB_2.3.jpg

Yes, indeed it does! And you're right about it being in line with the new Civic.

Honda have somehow had a fascination with this look since the Mk3 Cr-V:

The Jazz is an improvement (as it has that EV look) but it's not still not brilliantly resolved.

I far prefer that Modulox grill. If nothing else, less paint to get chipped.
Let's be careful out there !

I'd go for the 'NESS' ModuloX grille is ok but the interior is foul! Japanese bling at it's worst. CR-V orange wood trim and orange HR-V Style trim taken to excess!
When will Honda realise that whatever they do to the Jazz/Crosstar  it will never be popular with millennials.
Now they are only hybrid the price is prohibitive for them as there are far more 'exciting' cars for their money.
It alway amuses me when the reviewers say that there are alternatives to the Jazz/ Crosstar/HR-V and start quoting ICE cars. Thereby comparing apples with pears. If you are interested in a hybrid why would you consider a 'fossil-fueler?

For many people a hybrid doesn’t matter - manufacturers can stick a little generator/starter motor on anything and call it a ‘hybrid’ now.

When I bought my Jazz, I was considering Vauxhall Astra, Peugeot 306 and a few others - all plain ICE cars.

The cheaper purchase price offsets any hybrid fuel savings.

If only the Modulo grille was available as an accessory for the Mk4 Jazz in Europe. The front of the car looks far more balanced and up market with that grill.

I’ve seen a few second hand Jazz on the Honda Japan website with different grilles - it looks like grilles are a popular option there.

Well, there is of course the Crosstar which in my opinion has a perfectly acceptable front grill!

The current 'nose' is not my favourite feature of the car.    Its plastic btw  so at at least paint chips wont rust.

A conventional grille may increase fuel consumption slightly.  Maybe someone will introduce 'fake' grills in printed 3 D effect  vinyl wrap.  If it looks naff at least it should be cheap and easy to remove.

The current 'aero effect plastic wheel trims are also a fuel saving device I could do without.   Although I did read somewhere that in independent tests the aero wheels fitted to Teslas increased range by 3%.
My IQ test came back negative

Seems they are dropping these in certain European markets from next year (replacing with black alloys instead).

That would be good - they are a pain to clean (the worst wheels I've had) and don't look good. There are gaps between the metal and plastic parts that you have to use a fine brush for.

I've seen Teslas with very similar wheels but are all one colour and look easier to clean.

When you buy the car new you have the option to specify different wheels.

Now tell me if I'm wrong, but, the cost of configuring in the new wheels is the full retail price of them from what I can tell. If so, what happens to your standard wheels that you've paid for ?
