Automatic brake release
« on: November 06, 2021, 09:48:05 AM »
Hello,
I read in another post. that there was talk of unlocking the automatic handbrake, what does that mean? or how does it work?
If I don't release the brake with my hand, I have the car that doesn't move (rightly so).
Thanks for the info.
(Sorry for the mistakes I used Google translate)

If you have your foot on the brake you can push the button to release the brake. I have used this to move the car slightly on my drive when I don't want to put the seat belt on.

Re-reading your post, I may not have understood your question  8)

There is an automatic hand brake. On when in P, off when in D or R.
Pull up the handbrake until it beeps twice to enable.

If you have the engine running & your seat belts fastened, you can drive the car even when the handbrake is on at the start as it automatically releases the handbrake without you having to manually doing so. If your seat belts are not fastened, the handbrake would remain on & the car would not move. Is this what you were enquiring about?

Unless you apply the footbrake and then you can release the parking brake manually.

Hello,
yes that's right, I didn't know about this function,
I noticed that even in reverse it has the same possibility.
Surely I will continue to remove the brake using my hand, I do not want to get into bad habits, but it is certainly an advantage if you forget to remove it, you avoid making the car suffer, both as an engine and as brakes.

You will do no damage to the car;  it's designed to release the parking brake, normally when drivers seat belt is in use, the doors are closed and the car is in R, D or B.

I recently drove my sons car. It took some effort to remember to change gear using the clutch pedal and apply the parking brake afterwards.  :P

The number of times my old company gave me a manual pool car and I stalled it because I forgot to press the clutch when coming to a stop.   ::)

Been buying autos since the late 70's
Let's be careful out there !

Thanks for the info,
I'm also losing the habit of using the clutch,
I drove a friend's car and had to think about it for a moment before starting to drive :D :D
