Free Services in the future
« on: October 10, 2021, 07:41:46 AM »
I have the 5 years free servicing and warranty and wonder what will happen when our local Honda dealership closes. Apparently a lot of dealers are considering their options as Honda is withdrawing from the UK. The servicing manager has told me nobody knows whether Glyn they will offer servicing under another dealership or I’ll have to use alternative dealers in other towns. Hopefully Honda’s reliability will mean no warranty work having to be done many miles away. (My 2021 RR Velar has been in 5 times since May for warranty work !).

This explains why when I did the deal, I managed a £ 1,500 discount but they reduced it by £ 300 as I took the free servicing package by getting some finance. They explained that they didn’t get the full discount off unless they undertook the servicing which they couldn’t provide as they are closing.

Have any other dealerships announced withdrawing from The Honda franchise ?

My local dealer has just started selling MG's as well as Honda. If they close down or stop servicing Hondas then things will get difficult, if Honda want to continue to sell cars in the UK they have to maintain a decent dealer network.

In other countries, Honda sell some lovely cars that they don't sell in the UK.  Many overseas manufacturers (ie most manufacturers) only sell some of their models in the UK.  (Toyota have some good cars and also vehicles like the commuter minibus/people carrier and the Alphard that they don't sell in the UK.)

I think Mitsubishi have pulled out of Europe and North America, but they make lots of equipment and other stuff.  (Honda make motor bikes and all sorts of engines.)

I hope Honda don't pull out of the UK.

Same here in Warrington. I hope they don't pull out and that the MG franchise helps keep the dealership viable. I take heart from the push to sell the new HRV.

UK has been 'a slow but steady market' for Honda, and Europe has been 'a not really very good one',  compared to massive sales Honda enjoy in Japan,  Asia and USA and maybe India the UK is hardly worth keeping.

Mitsubishi didn't pull out of Europe. I am Dutch and have lived in Poland for 15 years. Mitsubishi is really present in both the Netherlands and Poland.
Websites: https://www.mitsubishi-motors.nl/ and https://www.mitsubishi.pl/
In my hometown Toruń we have a Mitsubishi dealer: https://www.mitsubishi.torun.pl/?_ga=2.142374002.1112913722.1633857045-1720783145.1633857045

Honda is also very much alive in Poland (without really great, but apparently sufficient sales figures). Our dealer in Toruń moved into a newly built building a year ago. You don't do that when the future looks bleak, right?

If that Style version is to boost sales then advertise it properly.

Apart from Honda enthusiasts I bet very few know about the e-CVT and especially how good it is.
Let's be careful out there !

When I bought my Crosstar back in June I paid for the 5 year service plan (I was not using PCP or finance). The Salesman said that eventually I would hear from Honda U.K. confirming the service plan. I have not heard anything so can anyone tell me how this works?

It is a separate line item on the sales invoice so I do have evidence of purchase.

Apparently Honda dealers send the info to the warranty/servicing company only once every quarter.

I've been chasing for my 5 year service/warranty pack paperwork as they should have now had the update through from the selling dealer.

FYI it's run by the below company:

Honda Associate
Assurant
The Aspen Building, Floor 2,
Mitcheldean, Gloucestershire,
GL17 0AF
Tel:  0330 100 3406

Every Honda dealer should be able to see on their system (by using your car's reg) that you have the warranty and service pack.  I bought my Jazz from JCB in Ashford Kent, but got it serviced at Brayley St.Albans: they could see that the first 5 services were free and they had the warranty details.

Same for me on my previous Civics, they just looked it up, and I used 4 different dealers as I was mobile then.
Let's be careful out there !

Significant how different brands advertise? Toyota advertise massively on TV. Not seen a Honda TV advert for some time.

Toyota's adverts are very focussed on selling product.
Honda's adverts were designed to confuse.

Honda’s instagram is awful - posts about dog guards/boot accessories/etc that every car has.

Nothing about how great the cars are and what makes them different to other hybrids.
