GD-GE confusion !

When i first found this forum i assumed mine was a GD as the GE seemed to be the new shape, yet mine says GE on the chassis plate (and yes its the old shape) can anyone enlighten me?  Thanks Dave

yep , i have never seen this in my motoring life but honda does so..

the last versions of old honda jazz can be coded GE (GE5 i think)

and the new shape jazz can be coded GG (GG2 and GG3) ..

One important thig also the engine code..

Our lovely japan and Uk made jazz' engines are L13A coded, but GG2 and GG3 jazz' engines are L13Z coded..

Our national importer claims that  there are no difference between different coded cars and engines. These different codes only show the geographic origin of production....

Some owners of Chinese-built old shape examples on this forum have stated their Jazz classified as a 'GE'. I always thought GE was exclusively the new shape but it appears not.

    * GD1: 1.3 L L13A i-DSII4 engine 2WD (Europe: 1.4L)
    * GD2: 1.3 L L13A i-DSI I4 engine 4WD (Japan only)
    * GD3: 1.5 L L15A I4 engine 2WD
    * GD4: 1.5 L L15A VTEC I4 engine 2WD (Canada and United States and Mexico only)
    * GD5: 1.5 L L15A I4 engine 4WD (Japan only)
    * GD6: 1.2 L L12A i-DSI I4 engine 2WD (Europe only)
    * GE3: 1.3 L L13A i-DSI I4 engine 2WD (2007 Europe 1.4L model. Made in China)

Simple it can't be - calling the old shape Jazz the first generation isn't correct as Honda sold a small car in the mid 80s called the Jazz. But few people remember that and virtually none probably exist anymore here in the UK!
