Possible tip for folding mirrors
« on: March 27, 2021, 01:01:17 PM »
Before buying my Jazz Hybrid SR i read many reviews and one journalist complained that the mirrors don't automatically fold open on startup or when using the remote, my way is to fold the mirrors as normal before power off and then press the same button which then lifts, on turning the power on the next time the car the mirrors automatically fold open. I know its not ideal but I often forgot to open the mirrors before driving off and this suits me. This also worked on my 09 plate Jazz.

Interesting

On my 2013 Civic, you press the remote once to lock, twice to deadlock and a third press to fold the mirrors in.

With that third press routine, once you next open the drivers door they auto fold out.

I'm surprised the same procedure hasn't been implemented.
Let's be careful out there !

Can you fold the mirrors with the remote on the Crosstar?

On the Crosstar and Jazz EX, you can fold the mirrors and open/close the windows using the remote. Both these models also have single touch open/close option on all windows, with all the window switches having a single horizontal line on each switch. On other models, only the driver’s window has single touch open/close option, with ‘Auto’ printed on the driver’s window switch.
The SR has a button to fold the mirrors electrically, as does the EX and Crosstar but on the SR the mirrors can’t be folded using the remote.
The SE doesn’t have the power fold mirror button.

On the Crosstar you can set the mirrors to automatically open and close on unlocking and locking the car.  A particularly useful visual feature to check you have locked the car. I thought that feature was available to set on all of the models.

I've got my Crosstar set to auto-fold the mirrors when the vehicle is locked (as noted above, it's an excellent visual indicator or the status). The brochure shows that Remote Retractable Door Mirrors (Key Fob Operation) is available for all models. This, if it's similar to the Mk 3, involves holding down the lock button for a few seconds after the vehicle is locked until the mirrors fold.

Finally, in case anyone hasn't discovered the feature, holding down both buttons on the remote for a few seconds until the red LED flashes switches the remote off - a very useful feature which prevents relay attacks on the vehicle.

I don’t know why the brochure for these vehicles is always so wrong. Not good. I have the SR and there is definitely no way to auto retract/open mirrors. The best way is what the OP advised. Also, the remote fob does not disable after holding both buttons. One press locks, second press deadlocks, third to infinite does nothing else.

I think the disable remote feature relates to disabling the keyless entry to the vehicle via the driver’s door handle or boot, which works when the key fob is on your person without having to press a remote button but this feature is only on EX and Crosstar.
There have been cases of criminals being able to intercept the signal given out by an active key fob that’s within a property from outside the building, then relaying this signal to the vehicle, which then allows vehicle access and starting.

It does stop an SR grade or lower from starting as well. I tried it with my spare key, so that’s now disabled in the drawer saving the battery.
Unlocked with the My Honda+ app, got in and tried to start with disabled spare key and it would not start until the key was re-enabled or it was put onto the start button.

Good point regarding disabling second key. Not only saves battery but also prevents the spare key signal from being intercepted, even when the primary key has been disabled.

Turning off the remote is a matter of technique. After locking the car push both buttons at the same time. Afer a few seconds the red LED flashes and the remote is then off until a button is pressed.
