How many miles do CVTs in MK2 survive?
« on: February 21, 2021, 07:47:36 PM »
Hello everybody!

As I'm looking for a used mk2 with CVT, I've read here some horror stories (the bearing whine of death) and good stories (the driving school hybrid with over 200k miles). As usually people write more about their problems than about what's not giving them headaches, I should ask people without problems to speak up :)

So I'd like to ask the folks with MK2 CVTs: how many miles are there now on your odometers?

Thanks!

Buying used - its all about condition and if any service history esp old invoices.
As with all secondhand buys please complete a HPI or Experian check 1st

Regular oil changes using correct Honda oil filter + spec oil do NOT neglect the correct CVT fluid every 2 years .
If buying from garage you are protected if buying private you'll need to take care.
I have cvt Jazz's for over 20 years without problem they are so easy to drive in town and B roads.
Good Luck hunting down your Jazz.

I'm the driving instructor that took a 2011 Jazz Hybrid to 256,000 miles and even when it packed up it was the driveshaft that ruined the gearbox after I hit a pothole hard on a flooded road (I think).
So I bought another Hybrid, a 2015 model, this one has gone to 134,000 so far and had no issues at all, just routine servicing, at Honda, new CVT fluid every 25,000 miles, and its good as new.
