Petrol cap tethering replacement

Hi all have a 2014 jazz , replacing petrol cap due to tethering breaking .looking guidance on how to open the plastic catch in the door of the petrol cap which retains the tethering to remove old and retain new , don't want to force it or break it . Please see picture any one any ideas? Thanks

Mine snapped as well. I drilled a hole in the plastic bit that remains on the door and replaced the tether with a piece of nylon cord.

Replaced one with a piece of the chain used for wash basin plug.... strong and flexible even when cold.

I like that bit of improvisation, you could have just left the plug on!  ;D
