Central dash switches - backlit or not
« on: April 29, 2020, 06:07:18 PM »
Now i've sorted my fuse problem out (other thread) I now want to know if this switch panel (in pic) should be backlit - so you can see them at night?. At the moment it is only the 'in operation' green or yellow light in the top of the switch which illuminates so I have to guess which switch I am pressing when its dark.

If there is backlighting how do I get to the bulbs behind?

Many thanks

Hi There, Just checked mine there not back lit, As the 3rd button is always lit (external air). I tend to mainly use front air clear (4th button) You get familar with button locations.

Yes, they are back lit just like the radio and heater controls. Well they are on our 2010 Si.

I had one go in our old 2004 Jazz.  Small bulb. Reasonably easy to replace but there is quite a bit of work to get access to it. From memory I think you have to take the radio out.

What's odd is for all of them not to be working. Can't believe all of them have blown unless it is a different arrangement in the 09-15 Jazz.

Thanks for the replies. I have the individual light in the switches working (green dot in top of external air switch) but at night it is only those that guide me to where the switches are. If it means removing the radio I'll probably live with it as I have the Nav system installed (HX-T model)

For the radio/GPS surround to be removed (popped out). Open the upper glove box lid to insert a sturdy flat blades tool to aid in easing and levering the left side of the radio surround. If you need radio out, that would require the 4 M5 to the left of the radio housing. To totally remove surround disconnect the airbag and the hazard connections. This will expose a number 1 crosshead screw securing the a/c mount and surround housing the controls and bulbs.
replace bulbs as per the previous link for replacing little T1 backlight bulbs.
