What are the wire colours?

If the car has been running without this plugged in, will something be destroyed/damaged?

How do I plug this in, does the car have to go up on a lift and the undertray comes off?
I guess the front has to come off to route the cable?  I'm puzzled why the cable is on the top right side when it should be on the bottom left.
