(also wanted to charge me £150 for the diagnostics test!)

Hey Ted. For that kind of money you could buy a diagnostic tool, such as Autel, and see if there are fault code to help with diagnosis.

As a work around, get the heater on max hot setting. The heater matrix then acts as an extra radiator and can help with the problem.

The manual if you need it is here https://hondafitjazz.com/manual3/index.html - it'll give you all the info you need on where components are and how to replace if needed. If you use a garage, at least you'll have an idea of whats involved to see if any quotes are reasonable.

Honda Jazz Mk2 2008-2015 / Re: Intermittent engine noise 1.4

I agree with the wise words already. Without fail every journey in our car, once fully warm, it's wound up to at least 4k revs, and a nice wide throttle opening in gears 2 & 3. As other have said, gives the car a decent work out and keeps the engine happy.

I've done this with every car I've owned over the last 25+ yrs, and it does them the world of good. No problem pootling for ages, but a small blast keeps things working.

Another tip, and I do this on most trips, is have a least one very firm brake from a decent speed like 40+mph. I tend to drive very smoothly, and brakes, like the engine, do need use to keep working well.

So, how did the good old Italian tune up work?

We've just come back from our second euro trip of '24. 1460 miles of trouble free travel from our wee Jazz. Performed extremely well and returned 50+mpg! Excellent.

We went to the Sauerland and Eifel Natur Park regions of Germany. From a driving perspective, it was excellent. Smooth roads, no tailgaiting and good breaking distances by all. Not a single incident of aggresive driving was seen. Honestly, it was a lovely area for driving. Scenery and sights were brilliant too.

Thanks again to our Lord V for the Umwelt sticker advice. We took the Autobahn via Dortmund. We saw no warning at all, and ended up in an Umwelt zone as the autobahn goes through the city and is reduced to 50kmh for several kms. Without our euro 5.95 sticker I'm certain a three figure fine would have been in the post to welcome us home.

Brilliant little car.  ;) still want more sound proofing though!

I tend to buy a lot of parts via Ebay. Always find what you need there.

Autodoc.co.uk is also an extremely good place to compare prices from different parts manufacturers, and they list part numbers too which makes seaching for bits really easy on the wider web.

Always worth a ring, are your local motor factors. Ask for their best price, or any discount for the hard up? Some factors are happy to discount to get the business so worth a punt in my experience.

Very jealous that you are all enjoying your new HU.

What tools did you need to get the existing HU out and fit in the new one in? Currently I only own a Philips screwdriver  :'(
A Philips screwdriver & brute force is all you need!

Trim removal tools are also helpful not just here but if you ever do a dashcam install. They're also really cheap too, less than £10 for a full set of different ones from eBay.

As I have said before, I think Honda's days in the U.K. may be numbered.
We are a very small market for them compared to the rest of the world..
They appear to be failing fast in the antipodes.

It would not surprise me to see them follow Mitsubishi and pull out of the U.K.altogether.

Honda rices are becoming ridiculous for what they are and judging by the comments on this and other fora heir reliability is going down the pan.

Such a shame. I have had 8 Hondas and loved them all.

Find part numbers, put in ebay or something, buy from reputable brand with a warranty.

Tox Laximus- If you have got the warranty you should be OK and hopefully the wait should not be so long as some of us have waited for the part. As far as the numbers reading this post I suspect it is many of us coming back to it again and again to see how people are getting on rather than a quarter of a million different people but i expect one of the moderators would know more about this. However, I would not be surprised if there are at least one hundred or more occurences of this fault in the UK.
