The end is nigh
« on: July 09, 2025, 03:06:27 AM »
After a tip run this coming weekend I'm going to investigate selling the Jazz next week. The daughter and I have spent a few days going through our houses building 2 tip piles. Should just fit into one journey.

As I'm only doing tip and DIY runs very infrequently there is no point keeping it. Only done a few hundred miles in the last year

Most of my recent mileage is doing a 30 mile run just to charge the HV battery

Within a 5 minute walk (and a bus stop in 3 mins with a 15 min frequency) :

Yes, with only a few hundred miles you have done in the last year it's deffo not worth keeping as the running costs such as insurance etc are not worth it.

Shame really as there great cars.

TBH, driving these days isn't as pleasurable as it was years ago

Reading is full of various speed bumps that are a real pain and stop you driving at the 20 or 30 limit

I won't be sorry to be car less

I still use my car quite a lot mainly to visit my wife who, sadly, is now in a nursing home. Indeed my annual mileage has gone up ( had to inform my insurance company). That said, if that hadn't been the case, I would be seriously considering going car less. I am ten minutes walk from a train station, bus stop 3 mins walk away, pub round the corner etc etc.

Certainly the Jazz, now with just under 11,000 miles in nearly 4 years, will be my last car.

Kremmen,
your sage words will be missed. But better making a decision based on your own needs.

Keep up with the input?

Hopeful,y, car wash Tuesday, then contact Honda Maidenhead as they gave a good quote last year

I've ruled out Motorway as I've read their business model. They pass your details onto dealers who quote then come round to view, drive, meddle. The Motorway 1 star reviews are quite worrying

WBAC are a possible but if they tried to reduce the online quote I would drive away as at 5,100 miles, been garaged, it's like new

I'm happy to stick around to see Jazz developments and pass on any info I've picked up

I have previously stated that I had a very positive experience selling to Evans Halshaw. You can choose what condition your car is in (they list factors to consider), Showroom, average, sub average.  Then give you a price.  I chose sub average, and they paid out exactly that amount. Unlike WBAC who knock down the offer aggressively.

Yes, I've read that about WBAC

There is a WBAC depot fairly near and I'm considering going there just for the pleasure of laughing and driving away

It's gone, sold to Honda Maidenhead for £1,500 more than WBAC quoted

I can cope without a car other than for carrying fishing gear which the Jazz does well.  But I have not been this year because of leg problems so the car has not done much mileage so its a waste really

Having owned 79 cars I am a confirmed petrol head (now Electric head?)
The day they take my licence away I will feel like ending it all.
I live in the great Metrollops (sic) of Poole & Bournemouth. The roads are crap and the traffic is horrendous, but I just LOVE driving. SWMBO lives in Sherborne, an 80 mile round trip. So generally we meet at weekends and have been doing so for 15 years.
I still love the drove through the Dorset countryside.
I worked for Shell as a Sales Development Manager and drove up to 30k miles a year. For 17 years +four years in Head Office.
I enjoyed every minute of it, including trying to drive through a blizzard 'white out' on Bodmin moor.

I'm puzzled

The car was on the dealers list for a few weeks and then disappeared

Looking online it now has no tax or MOT so what's happened to it ?

SORNed? Parked in a barn somewhere to be rediscovered and restored in 50 years?

I thought that but there are sites where you can search by VIN

They give the same result

Left the dealer early August and still not taxed or MOT

I did wonder if it had been stolen from the dealer
