Service intervals mk4 jazz
« on: August 19, 2024, 06:22:09 PM »
Hi all this may seem like a daft question but I and my dealer are confused about a recent dashboard message,
Ok so my jazz was serviced at 12,500 Miles,  but at 17,400 miles while driving on the M1 I get a large message come on saying oil and filter service required in 28 days, booked in for the service then today the dealership queried the request as oil and filter were changed at the main service and there is no requirement for oil and filter change at 6,000 miles.
So do any of you get a on dash message informing you that an oil and filter change is needed.
Regards Paul  :D :D

Haven't had this myself (my current car is a Mk4 EX Jazz) but could this be an issue related to how your service notification system is set up? Mine is set to an annual service rather than what an algorithm which might look at your driving profile and determine that you need a more frequent oil change? Worth checking?

Thanks for the reply, yes mine is setup for an annual service/12.5k miles which ever comes first, maintenance info shows around 230 days before the next service is due, my driving style is the same as before - mostly 100 mile round trips with the odd short trip into town, I average about 1000 miles per month and never stress the drive train as I keep to speed limits and rarely exceed 70 on motorways/dual carriageways

The maintenance reminder on many Honda models is a joke

A dealer informed me years ago that they turn them off for exactly the reason you describe. They have had many owners come in after only 3 months and average mileage only to be sent away after disabling it

In the UK it's 12,500 miles or 1 year

When I got my MK4 it had 360 days to service even though it had no mileage and had been PDI the day before collection

After just one month and 300 miles that was down to 190 days

I reset it and got them to disable it
Let's be careful out there !

Thanks for that Kremmen, just got back from dealership and no oil service required as their records show next service at 25k miles, agent checked car and agreed that 210 days is about right but no sign of any other service required, oh well at least it got me out of bed early  ;D ;D ;D

This is me. Just had 2nd service at 22k, but it was not the mileage that denoted it.. but the yearly interval.

Just had mine serviced today

All green except for a bacteria check that they wanted to charge me £99 to flush through. I declined because I can get a Meguiars cleaner for £16 and do it myself

Reminiscent of the old Diamondbrite cash cow ?
Let's be careful out there !

Had mine serviced today (after 10'000 miles / 12 months).

The car asked only for a B service. The A element (oil change) was still 320 days out which was a surprise.
I seem to do some things right with my driving  ;D  (I avoid very short trips below 10 miles whenever possible)

You should ask your dealer for the diagnostic information from the computer which lists the remaining days for all the service positions.

See attached example for the diagnostic information (not from my car, I have yet to ask them to send it to me if possible) which can be "decoded" with the service code information available on the Honda website.
