Honda Jazz MK 5 2025
« on: August 18, 2024, 07:29:53 PM »
There appears to be a trickle of You Tube videos emerging showing variants of the next generation Jazz but I’m a bit sceptical about their authenticity.

Anybody got any feedback on this (just Google and peruse!)

Some of those "2025 Honda Jazz" videos on YouTube show footage of Mk4 Jazz and some show Mk3, so those videos are probably just repeating some old footage.

Some videos show photos of some new type of Jazz design. I think those photos are created with AI, and are completely made up. AI is not good at creating believable video footage yet, so only made up photos of Jazz are shown on those videos. Another sign is that on every video the new Jazz design is slightly different. Shouldn't it be the same design on every video, if the videos were true.

I agree, probably bull. In any case the A pillars are worse visibility by the look of it, and it looks like it's lost the nice top glovebox. And keeping the stupid gearstick when all you need is some buttons makes it look very old fashioned compared to the high tech drivetrain we have.

Honda has released the facelift of the MK 4 in 2023.

It seems very unlikely they would go to this length when a MK 5 was already planned for 2025.

Mk 1  2002-2008  -6 years       mk2 2008-2015 - 7 years    mk3 2015 -2020- 5 years

The mk4 may have arrived a bit sooner  because the hybrid technology was ready to go  , and a mk 5 may be a bit late while Honda debate their future electric vehicle strategy

But I think a Mk5 will already be on the 'drawing board'.  And these days the 'drawing board' is more likely to be manipulating digital images and video  using material from other cars. etc.    I have even done it myself, photoshopping on different wheel designs and colours to see how it suits the car.

There may be numerous designers   within Honda, and possibly  independent design studios  all producing their own  concept  of what the Mk5 should look like.  Most will be rejected by Honda.     Honda may 'leak' some  to the public  to judge reaction.  I suppose an independent designer might produce and post an unauthorised version hoping to impress Honda with their work, but its still likely to be rejected.

The Jazz appeals to me  because of its  excellent vision and  very roomy for its class .  But I am a pensioner.  Younger drivers may find it boxy and prefer style over  practicality, and Honda may decide  they can sell more cars that way.

Styling-wise, the MK4 seemed to me a great leap backwards after the MK3. Too bland. Lacked a front grill (it was an extra cost option in 2020, but I understand that it is standard on the later facelift).

I got the impression that Toyota's Yaris hybrid was rated better than the Jazz MK4 by Auto Express, mainly because their tester preferred the more funky styling of the Yaris and its lower sportier stance. More yoof appeal than pensioner appeal.

I bought the MK4 Jazz because it was good to drive, despite its looks. Naturally, I am a pensioner.  ::)

I agree with all that

I've often thought the MK3 looked better and also read that the the Yaris 3 pot engine was tractor like compared to the Honda
Let's be careful out there !

I test drove the Yaris before getting the Mk4. and it was no comparison in two aspects for the first order major differences, the relaxation of quiet driving when not pushing to the limit (and even when) and the subjective effect of being cramped in by the dash and console wrap as opposed to the airy and comfortable interior.

I owned a Yaris Cross Design for six months and couldn't wait to get rid, it was the most unrefined driving experience of any car i've owned, constant drone from the engine, especially on a twisty road when accelerating out of corners, motorway cruising the wind and road noise was annoying, it sounded like a rear window had been left slightly open, sound insulation is virtually non existent, trust me, the Jazz hybrid is is the way to go

I test drove a Yaris Cross and couldn't believe the driving experience was so disappointing.  I thought there must have been something wrong with the demonstrator or something wrong with me because there are so many on the roads near me I must be missing the point.

Latest generation Jazz feels a much nicer place to be.

My prediction for Europe at least is that they will pull the plug on the Jazz like they did in the U.S.

Ford are pulling the plug on planned EV's as they are not selling

They are now developing hybrids

Quote
Ford has unveiled a £1.5bn hit from its decision to cancel a new electric SUV as it says motorists are unwilling to pay higher prices to switch away from petrol and diesel.

The Detroit powerhouse said on Wednesday it was watering down its electric car plans by focusing increasingly on its hybrid range as it seeks to appeal to cost-conscious buyers.

The news comes as a major blow to the Biden administration, which has announced billions in subsidies for American carmakers to invest in electrification.

As part of the shift in strategy, Ford said it will scrap plans for an all-electric three-row SUV and replace it with a new hybrid model.

This is expected to cost the company up to $1.9bn (£1.5bn) in writedowns and additional expenses.

Ford had previously delayed the car’s release, originally scheduled for 2025, by two years.

It also delayed an electric pickup truck codenamed “Project T3”, which will now be released a year later than planned, in the second half of 2027.

Bosses blamed fresh competition from Chinese rivals, as it said it needed to cut costs and adapt to motorists becoming increasingly price sensitive.
Let's be careful out there !

Some manufacturers are already forced into producing a percentage of EV's, maybe Honda will have to comply if they want to export cars to the EU, my thought are that self charging hybrids offer the best package, so I hope Honda (and others) continue developing their hybrids
