Beeping sound after switching off motor
« on: August 18, 2024, 04:52:47 PM »
I have noticed that, every now and then, my Honda Jazz (2022 / JAZZ EX I-MMD CVT I-MMD EX) makes a beeping noise (6 high beeps in rapid successions) after I have switched off the motor and opened the door. Does anyone know what this means? Thanks so much!

I occasionally get similar and I reckon it's me accidentally pressing the fob lock button whilst the door is open

Fob in pocket with buttons exposed as I'm bent over whilst getting out

As per another thread I sometimes forget to ensure my house keys are shielding the buttons
Let's be careful out there !

I think this alarm sounds when you have removed the keys from the car interior while the power mode button has only gone into accessory mode , not power off mode as you intended.  If  the car is not in ''P'   , and  also I think, if you dont put your foot on the brake pedal when required,   pressing the power button will only have put the car into accessory mode, not fully off.

Its difficult to explain but it may help to read page 188 of the 2021 on line manual . If you havnt got one already you can download it as a searcheable pdf  free from Honda  -

You maybe didn't completely switch off the car. The car cannot be locked in this state.
When you leave the car with the key fob in your pocket the car will make a series of high pitched beeps upon closing the door.

You can easily produce this warning sound by leaving the car in park but still running and then get out of it and close all doors.
Is this the same sound you were hearing?

I never exit the car before checking it's fully off so not the case for me

The dash display clearly tells me when I've powered down when not in P so it's in ACC mode ..... which is a faff because it's powerup again, into P then powerdown
Let's be careful out there !

@Kremmen: I just found a reason for the car to make a sound when opening the driver's door:

If you have left the lights turned on (not on Auto).
The sound however is more of an ongoing chime, not the high pitched stacato the car makes when not completely shut down and the doors are closed.

Another reason for beeping is if you try to lock when one or more doors (inc boot) are not fully closed.

(This car has many reasons for beeping!!)

My routine is to reverse park (in garage)

Into (P)ark, power down, turn off lights as they stay on till you lock car, depending on setting

I know lights are off before I get out because they illuminate the inside of the garage door

Then, randomly, when I'm climbing out I get the short series of rapid beeps which I assumed was my thigh squashing the fob button as I climbed out as the garage space isn't that wide
Let's be careful out there !
