The price of things these days.
« on: August 02, 2024, 11:01:38 AM »
I know we all like to grumble at the cost of things these days, but shopping for oil today, I stumbled on the price I paid less than 3yrs ago.

Dec 2021 Comma XTech 5w30 A5/B5 5 litres from GSF car parts........£21.40
Aug 2024 Comma XTech 5w30 A5/B5 cheapest I can find today.........£31.48

Wowsers!  :o That is some increase. These things go up, and you don't notice day to day, but when you buy like for like in very recent times and see an increase of nearly 50% in three years? Shocking.

I'll be doing my own change, so not a big deal, but still.  >:(  It's the only service item I've spotted that has jumped so much.

Look at crude oil prices: nearly doubled in that period.
Major constituent used to make subject.

According to https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/topics/cmjpj223708t crude was $80 a barrel 12/21, and is now. I'm just a bit tight, and these things jump out! Tyres have increased a lot last few years, I'm guessing oil price.
