Jazz MK1 CVT Judder
« on: May 29, 2024, 09:48:51 AM »
Hi fellow Jazz owners,
My Automatic CVT Jazz has the famous CVT judder on take off from a stop. The car has only done 50k miles on the clock and it probably had this issue earlier too. I contacted my Honda dealership and they suggested an oil change.

He suggested me to do a CVT oil change, drive it a bit, then change the oil again if i want. We agreed and i just had the oil changed, he said that he did indeed notice the judder and after the oil change the judder was still there just less than before. I was told to drive it a bit and it should improve, i drove 30 min back home and i noticed the judder was 70% gone, other times 100% gone, it's really amazing.

Other things the Honda dealership noted is the old oil when i asked about it, he said it looked bad, old and off, the way he explained it to me was simply like water and old when the new oil is suppose to be more reddish according to him. Before i had the oil changed i checked the old oil myself, it was more like brownish but very clear indeed.

Dealer lies/is ignorant.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/322278228133   will solve it : change CVT fluid first though.

I wouldn't go as far and call them liars however i'm fully aware of this product and plan to use it if oil change doesn't do the trick, in fact i brought up the Xado idea to the dealer and said they had no idea what it was. Very expected since Xado is a 3rd party solution, the dealers and manufacturers simply wont approve it.

I already changed the CVT fluid, and judder gone by 70%, i will try and sell it as it is. Are you suggesting a second oil change (no flush)?

Each oil change only changes roughly half the fluid.. So a " flush" is change, drive a bit and then change again.

So i just checked the dipstick oil level, and it's just slightly below the cold line when the car is cold, i drove it for 10 min and checked again but it's still at the cold line (check the picture). Did i not drive it enough to get hot?

Before the oil change, the oil level was above the hot line even when the car was cold.

The color of the oil didn't change from the previous one and remains light brownish/gold.

The judder is literally back now that i drove it from a cold start.

I driven the car for a total of 50 min since it had the oil change, will it improve if i drive it more or is this a sign of getting a second oil change?

This car is getting sold no matter what as i want an Accord. I could try Xado now, really don't want to spend another 220$ on a second oil change.
