Looking at the online configurator the tyres are exactly the same size. However, the hatch comes with 15 inch alloys with16 inch alloys being a £1k option. Whereas the Crosstar comes with 16 inch alloys as standard. A bit confused.

Every review I read or saw said the ride would be better on 15in, I suppose due to the increase in rubber compared to the road. I asked to test drive both, and deliberately went round some poor pot hole streets and thought the 15 better so actually paid extra to get the alloys. 16 might be better round corners at top gear test track speeds, but I don't drive like that so it is a personal decision.

The Hatchback Advance has 16inch wheels the same size as the Crosstar, the Crosstar thou has a higher sidewall tyre. 185/60 R16 as apposed to the hatch with 185/55 R16. Only the Elegance model has 15 inch wheels as standard.

Figured it out. The configuator is wrong, it has both tyre sizes as 185/60 R16 but just downloaded the brochure and after going through it it states tyres as hatch 185/55 and Crosstar as 185/60 as Steve_M posted, thanks.

If you are buying an elegance I would stick with 15" wheels.  It doesnt stop with the £1000 cost for 16" alloys.

If you need new tyres  four 185/60/R15  costs £405.16     The same tyres  (Goodyear efficient grip ) in  185/55/R16   cost £544.56.   :o

Incidentally the 185/60/R16 used on the crosstar has a more limited choice of replacement tyres, especially if you want  all season tyres.

I have the red and black crosstar, red body and black roof. I love it, it never looks dirty and in my opinion I think it makes the car look classier. It was the colour combination which was a good buying point for me. Had her 8 months now, very comfortable and a great ride.

You can get Falken 185/55/R16 for £80 a tyre near me, and these have a wet weather A rating. I can also get replacement Blue Earth Yokahamas from the same garage for £450 a set, fitted. Its a Honda Jazz, so hardly going to be drifting around corners. With todays technology, you don't need to spend high on good quality tyres.

I had my Jazz Executive fitted with 15" tires when I purchased it. Because I noticed that there was more choice in all-season tires in the 15" size. I opted for Goodyear tires.

I have the dark blue - I think it's called midnight blue - metallic. I am careful how I wash the car but, like many dark colours it shows up swirl marks. My previous MK3 Jazz was a metallic grey. It almost certainly had swirl marks but they weren't that visible.

i've got the "Premium Sunlight White Pearl one. (how on earth can they ever call that colour white?)
I have to admit though: It doesn't look "dirty" that quickly. However, in my "hay-days"  we used to call that kind of colour grey metallic but by all means never white!

Regarding swirls: I take very good care of my car's underside but practically never use an automatic car washer.
So far all dealers have complimented me on the quality of my used car's paint coat - maybe you can detect a pattern...  ;)

My answer to post washing swirls is to use a waterless wash (Meguiars) after the wash and dry

I find that removes any stray water spots and marks perfectly and leaves a shiny slippery coat

Even after using Turtle Wax ceramic, after drying with Meguiars water magnet and left a while to fully dry, drop a microfibre cloth on the sloping bonnet and it just stays there. After Meg's waterless wash, drop the microfibre and it slides off
Let's be careful out there !

I think dark colours bring more cleaning  challenges, on any make of car .Especially solid  colours .  The results can look be great if you are willing  to spend time meticulously polishing it , and some people enjoy doing it. .  But a quick wash can be disappointing.

My white car shows the dirt, if you look closely . But not as much as you might expect.   But a  thorough wash and rinse  leaves it looking good. There are probably swirl marks in the clearcoat, but it doesnt show.

My previous Yaris was metallic zinc. A gradual, even, build up of dirt hardly showed at all so it didnt get washed as often.  :P But on balance I prefer white. The car is  more conspicuous to other drivers ,especially in poor light. When it comes to being seen every little bit helps.

Conspicuous and colour doesn't always apply

Back in the late 70's I drove buses in London, Uxbridge area. Big double decker red things.

Never happened to me but I heard in the canteen of others being hit by a car and the car driver said "sorry mate, didn't see you"
Let's be careful out there !

They do have some filling qualities. I notice it particularly on the piano black window frames on the doors. Look very swirly in full sun but put any sort of protective product on - waterless wash, quick detailer etc - and they are markedly improved.
