If I'm expecting to drive through bandit country I do manually lock all doors.

I still say ..... by all means unlock all doors, but, auto lock any unopened doors, tailgate, etc if they are not opened within say 30 secs.

My SIL recent Audi auto locks at 10mph so they weren't persuaded to change.
Let's be careful out there !

My dad's 2015/64-plate Kia Picanto also auto locking doors.

I don't remember auto locking on the 2006 Civic - was it a hidden feature that had to be activated?

Yes, it was a user set feature. As per normal not in the manual :

To enable and disable Auto Locking and Auto unlocking

To turn on auto-locking at 10mph (16kph)
- Close the driver's door
- Put the key into position II
- Hold down the door lock button until you hear two sets of "locking" noises. This takes about 6 seconds**.
- Turn the key back to position I

Can’t you program it to lock the doors as speed exceeds 10MPH? A real safety feature in our lawless times.

Unwanted intruders normally get in at 0mph. Not sure how auto locking at 10 mph would help. Or any system  that would help if you get out while leaving the engine running that wouldnt also stop you getting back in yourself.

You really don't know how fast he can be. Probably 10 mph is no problem at all. ;D

As our Lord V already mentioned: Unwanted intruders normally get in at 0mph. Auto locking at 10 mph is senseless.

Surely the point about the auto locking is that the driver doesn't have to remember to do it? He gets in, sets off, and when the car exceeds 10mph the doors lock, and stay locked until he unlocks them to get out. So he's locked in at any subsequent stops in dodgy areas. I think they unlock automatically if the car detects it's been in an accident (but not necessarily in a flood). That's the way it used to work on my old Scenic.

Yes, I've had it in the past and they stayed locked until you used the interior door handle.

No idea if they auto unlocked

It's worth getting the Honda+ app working. It can be a bit of a faff to register the car, but once it's working it can tell you if the doors are locked, any windows are open and whether the boot is open. Handy to be able to check remotely if you're not sure.
