Before I put them in dark corner...
« on: March 13, 2013, 01:34:25 PM »
Hi,

Season is almost here and fresh problems. :)
I need set of summer tires for BBS wheels. Since they're now 7,0x15 with 'new' ET22 I'm just not sure what to do or it it will fit... somehow.
I have D2 coils and I think if I would go with Nankang 185/45R15 those BBS should fit/hide under a bit/not rub on fenders... OR?

I just don't won't to spend 220 € for tires, mount them and then put whole set in some dark corner of the attic. ???

LUCKY guys in UK... Used Rotas allover... Here big fat blank zero.

Cannot you measure if there is sufficient clearance?  Calculate the suspension travel from centre of wheel to the mudguard when it is at its lowest point, then remove the wheel and measure the clearance with the wheel in that position.  You can find out the height of your proposed tyre and see if there is enough space.

If you Google "will my tyres fit under the car body" you will find formula from car fanatics in the USA who figure out these things

General answer at FitFreak seams to be that to avoid any problems with rubbing, and keep the wheels
inside the fenders, you need wheels with at least ET45.

I have just ordered a set of new alloys myself, and ended up ordering 6.5X16 ET45 with 205/50-16
they fit inside fenders, and the 205/50 are the best match regarding rolling diameter / not setting
odo & speedometer off.

I used this great tool to play with rim size, ET, and tyre sizes.:

Well it's finally - I'm f*ed! STUPID IMAGESHACK rotation...but you can see the result. :)

Rear - OK and even some extra space

Front - Way from OK!

But I got 'lucky' and found HERE in Slovenia set of Calibre Eclipse (1 month old & mint, ET 37) for 450 € or like 380 Pounds!

NOW what do you think guys?
I was also looking Ebay.co.uk and found model Calibre Vice (4 spoke, black polished,... 420 Punds with shippint to SLO) but I think Eclipse are more suitable for black Jazz.

BBS? History and for some other project in future... :)
