honda jazz ishift sometimes does not start

my parents have just bought a 2010 honda 1.4 ishift sometimes it will not start they say there is a flashing n in the display when inserting the key car will not start if they take out key a few times the n in the display stops flashing and car will start they know they have to put footbrake on before starting car any ideas ? car is still under warranty so can go back to the dealers thanks

Do you have the MIL (amber) light on/lit on the dashboard?
