Looking at 2013 1.2 Hybrid Jazz - Risky?
« on: February 25, 2025, 09:29:58 PM »
Hi there!
So I am currently driving a piece of crap Lancer 1.6 that needs a saudi-oil company to run. The gas is killing me and it's heavy and sluggish.

I am looking at a Mark 2 Jazz.

They have two versions in my budget.
1. 2013 Natural 1.2 with the red rear lights
2. 2013 Hybrid with the clear rear lights

Which would you go for? Obviously I ask because it's what, 3000 quid to replace the batteries? Can they go for another 10 years you reckon?

Also, what are the top 3 faults that all mk2 owners face at 12 years old now? Just so I can see how much is it to repair such faults.

Thanks so much!

Hi,
my wife has 2013 Petrol with 160k miles and no problems.
Except the 5 times folks have bumped into it!!!!  :'(

She keeps it in good order and annual service.
No problems whatsoever, except now I have a misfiring cylinder - which was rather unexpected  :'(

She just wants the car running again! I am in the process of sorting it out.

The previous was a ballade that we ran for 9 years and traded in for the Jazz ('cos she liked it!)

The petrol engines are basically built proof and if Honda still produced a petrol engine today she would get another.
Great little cars!!
Really, 9+12 years without any problems whatsever is unreal.

Hi,
nope.  It is the petrol version.  The hybrid was released soon after we purchased this car.

I spoke to the Honda garage about this and they said:

First civic hybrids still had batteries with problems. Those were replaced by another brand. Since then the batteries packs, which are also in the Jazz, are expected to last a lifetime.

I have a 2011 Jazz. Only issue I had was with the cooling fan of the hybrid pack. Was quite a costly repair. Other than that the car drives like a charm and is very reliable. I do see bits of rust starting near the rear wheel arches, but I guess that common on most older cars.
