Thinking on getting a towbar

I keep changing my mind on this...
Anyone got one fitted to theirs?
What makes are good for these cars?
Detachable worth it-lower towing weight?
Specific wiring kit or generic?
To keep costs down will try to find 2nd hand one (unlikely find!) or get a mate to help fit new one and take to towbar place to do the electrics.

Any links or advice would be great. Would be used for a
bike rack/towing a trailer for logs so would like a towbar to cope with the max weight.
Think I've read it's 1 tonne max weight for the jazz?

I used a company called "towsure" on quite a few occasions always a quality product and good customer care.
I hope your car is a manual as you can't tow with a cvt. Should be okay for the bike carrier though.

I just had a look on Ebay and there's quite a few.
One option on there is one from Poland £140 or £160 with generic wiring kit.
Specific wiring kits are looking around £120 - 140 
Trying to work out which type of wiring kit to go for, no idea if 7 or 13 pin? Think 13 is for caravan? If so 7 for a trailer will be enough.
There is a local towbar place and I'll give them a call next week. Looking at the price of towbar, specific wiring & fitting of both I'd say it'll be north of £400?

The towing specs are in the handbook. My mk.3 2018 cvt is OK for towing,  don't know about your model.
Unbraked trailer weight is dependent on the vehicle weight but it is likely to be in the region of 450kg,  you need to check the manual.  Braked trailer weight will be higher,  maybe 750kg or something,  but again check to be sure.
I bought a Witter towbar for my Yaris from the Towing Centre back in 2021, I chose the detachable Swan neck just so I don't keep banging my shin on the ball when putting shopping in the car (done that!).
Brink make towbars which are often sold as vehicle manufacturers accessories. Westfalia are another good brand.
Any towbar fitted in the UK must be type approved and marked.
As for the wiring,  it depends on the vehicle and who is doing it. I used a generic kit but it takes longer so if you're paying for it to be done then it might not save anything.
As you say,  7 pin for regular trailers, 13 pin for caravans with battery charging etc.

Cheers good idea, didn't think about looking in the handbook!
Mine is an idsi 1.4 manual.
Will look into the wiring side of things, my friend will be doing that.
I can see me cracking my shins on it too so maybe detachable is the better option but funds might say otherwise.
