Is it worth disconnecting the battery during holidays?
« on: August 29, 2024, 08:54:07 AM »
Hi all,

I have a Honda JAZZ EX I-VTEC 2017 Petrol. I'm not going to use the car for 4 weeks and I would like to know if, for this model, it is worth disconnecting the battery or will it create more problems than it will solve?

I'm asking specifically for this model, I know for other cars this is a good option but I'm not sure about the Honda JAZZ EX I-VTEC 2017.

Thank you

No problems.
If there are no aftermarket devices mounted, in 4 weeks the battery should keep charged even if connected.

I once left my Jazz for 7 weeks, and it started without problems when I got back to it. But the battery was a lot younger then. Does your stop-start work? If not, and you get the low battery warning, that's an indication that your battery is aging and leaving it for an extended period might be a risk. You might consider a solar charger to compensate for the parasitic drain on the battery.
If you do decide to disconnect, there shouldn't be any lasting effect, but you'll need to ensure the car's in a safe location (obviously the alarm won't  work) and know how to open it without power. You may lose settings in the infotainment system as well.
