CD Player - Green Loading Light (2008)

I don't use the CD player much. Today I noticed the green light that normally indicates the CD is loading or unloading was showing. When I stopped the car I could hear motor sounds from the unit. I have loaded and unloaded a CD a few times and it has now settled down - but I am a bit concerned that it might start up again and flatten the battery or cause a fire.
Any tips?
Is there a way of inhibiting the just CD section?

shouldn't be any power to the CD when ignition is off, as it only comes on when key is in accessory or full on position so don't worry about flattening the battery.  I assumed green light showed that there was a CD in the player, not necessarily being loaded or unloaded.

The green light shows a disc is in the unit. It's on whatever the mode, so if I'm listening to the radio, it'll still be lit to indicate a disc in the unit.

I know this is a different fault, but wonder where the switch is for the disc-in light?

There is power to the cd even without using the key.

Ive removed and replaced cd's many times.

Sorry - I didn't make it clear - the Green Light was on when there was no CD in the player - it hadn't had one in for months.
