Good morning, I have a Honda Jazz 2015 GK (Australia) and yesterday did my CVT transmission fluid change. Purchased 4 liters of Honda HCF-2 transmission fluid and replacement crush washers from the local Honda dealer and proceeded to get to work.
Watching a lot of YouTube videos and reading up as much as I could it seemed that the transmission would take 3.6 liters of fluid, so I was confident I had enough. Concerningly, I ended up adding the whole 4 liters before fluid would drain out of the fill check bolt hole.
These are the steps I took;
1. Drove the car for approx. 15mins to warm up the CVT and jacked and leveled the car
2. Cracked open the fill check bolt
3. Drained the oil from the drain bolt until the stream of oil stopped
4. Cleaned and replaced the drain bolt and torqued
5. Removed the fill check bolt
6. Using a funnel with hose attached, inserted the tube into the check bolt hole and filled until transmission fluid (HCF-2 - purchased a 4-liter (4.23 quarts) bottle) poured out of the check bolt hole. Took approx. 3.5 liters (3.7 quarts).
7. Replaced the fill check bolt & loosely tighten
8. Start the car and cycle through all gear selections leaving them in the selection for at least 10 seconds (repeated this twice)
9. Removed the check bolt again and inserted the funnel and hose.
10. Proceeded to fill until the transmission oil again poured out of the check bolt hole - HOWEVER!! it took the rest of the oil in the bottle before it started pouring out.
11. Refitted the fill plug with new crush washer and torqued
What have I done wrong?? I measured the oil in the drip pan where the overflow and old oil was collected in and it measured 4.4 liters. So confused right now. Torqued up the check bolt and needed to drive it - Keen to know what I have missed.
Keen to understand if I should just leave it or should I drain and replace again with new fluid. I have opened the fill check bolt again after driving for approximately 15 more minutes and no more fluid has come out.
Thanks in advance for listening and welcome any advice.
