Cruise Control not activating
« on: November 12, 2021, 04:52:21 PM »
I have purchased a 2018 Jazz SE a couple of weeks ago and am working througth the comprehensive manual.

One problem I have encountered is with the cruise control .
Try as I might I cannot get it to work despite the indicator on the multi-information display showing the cruise control logo. the cruise limiter is fine but the cruise control appears not to work.

Any help would be appreaciated

At the risk of stating the obvious (sorry!), are you following the correct procedure to switch it on, and what is shown on the display? Manual says:

"To use cruise control, press the MAIN button. Select cruise control by pressing the LIM button, then press the –/SET button once you have achieved the desired speed (above 30 km/h or 18 mph)"

Note that the LIM button cycles through the three modes of Cruise, Limiter, and Intelligent Limiter. So if you don't see the cruise icon displayed (like a dial with an arrow pointing towards it at roughly the 10 o'clock position) on the left top of the RH display, keep pressing the LIM button until you see it. When you've set the speed, you'll see that speed displayed on the right side of the same display.

If you've followed all that, and it still doesn't work, then your car may still be under warranty so get it back to a dealer.

I've done all that , how ever the the manual states to take your foot off the pedel then +/- the speed Is that correct.
The car unfortunatly is out of warrenty so, a visit to the dealer will be costly I guess.

I usually tap the -/SET button and then take my foot off the throttle, the CC then takes over to maintain the speed. Once CC is doing it's thing, you can adjust the speed up using the + button, and down using the - button in 1mph steps (it might do it in bigger steps if you keep the button depressed, but I've never felt the need to do that).

Seems odd that the limiter works but CC doesn't, they are closely related systems. Do both limiters (ie the normal as well as the so-called intelligent) work?

One very small point that you've probably already tried, but I'll point out as it took me quite a while to work out on my 2019 model is that once you are in cruise control mode, you can only set the speed you want by first pressing the - (minus) button. If you start by pressing the + (plus) button, the cruise speed will not set. Not sure if this helps, but good luck.

Same as my 9G was ....... to activate CC it was the -Set button only.

If you're a bit unsure then you need a quiet piece of road to test. I was nervous the first time I used it but with practice very easy to use.
Let's be careful out there !

Hi

I always thought this

- minus button is set speed and also when CC set, reduce speed from CC speed set

+ plus button is resume speed to CC set speed you set and also increase speed from CC speed set

If you press brake or clutch pedal CC is turned off

You can press the accelerator and CC is still on so once you take your foot of accelerator, the speed slows to the speed set by you using CC

Many thanks

John

Hmmm

I can't remember or test now but I'm sure my 2013 9G Auto, either pedal cancelled the CC.
Let's be careful out there !

i think from memory holding the button for longer lets the speed jump by 10mph ,or thats what happens on mine which is also 2018 SE

Using the clutch does not deactivate CC. It's one of the things I like compared to Hyundai. Hou can change gear without needing to reset CC.

A broken clutch pedal sensor can inhibit the cruise control.
