In the manual, page 428:

How the system works
• Radar sensors: underneath the
rear bumper corners.

...I think we've established that you can post links to manuals by now  ;D ???

As mentioned we know how it works on this model.

By way of an update on this issue, on the way across to Gatwick Honda yesterday the system just started working!
As I was booked in I still took it too them and on a scan they found DTC BIE76 and BIE77, so 'short to power in right side BSI radar unit indicator circuit' and 'Open insight side BSI radar unit indicator circuit '
I opted not to have the rear bumper skin removed to investigate further as it appears to be fully working now but I wanted to post this update as it may prove useful to others

"In my experience the blind spot flashing stops just as the front of the vehicle is in your peripheral vision and before the camera would see it

I'm with the rear bumper radar only mob"

That the blind spot system uses sensors in the rear bumper perhaps also explains why the Cross star, with a different bumper design, does not have this feature.

Having got used to the benefit the system affords on motorways I would not now want to be without it.

ups! - You might come to regret that decision as the problem might reoccur! A "short to power" doesn't sound like something that should be ignored.

...I watched mine this morning as traffic passed me. The warning light only went off when the passing car was ahead of me and would've been in the camera's line of sight.

Doesn't seem right to me. Maybe they accidentally mounted the radar behind your front bumper...? ;D

Well the problem hasn't resurfaced so whatever caused the system to fail must mysteriously have been very intermittent.  I will probably pull the rear bumper skin myself just to check the loom and connector to the radar unit for peace of mind once the weather warms up!

From the  video the radar units and surrounding areas do seem quite dirty . Would seem to suggest it can be vulnerable to weather and road dirt.
My IQ test came back negative

...The sensor does well then to detect from the rear bumper all the way to past the front wing.

The radar unit has a beamwidth (field of view) that likely extends up the side of the vehicle. In addition the system will probably continue to indicate the presence of a vehicle for a period after it exits the radar beam.
