Going up a size ??
« on: May 14, 2024, 05:17:01 PM »
I was thinking about replacing my well worn, but still very legal, 185 x 55 x 16 tyres on my 2018 Sport. :o
Popped into my local tyre dealer who suggested that I should consider 195x55x16 by way of (1) being slightly less expensive and (2) getting a bit more protection for the alloys. Especially when used by Mrs B who has been known to do a bit of kerbing in her MK1 over time.
Anyone have any thoughts on this as the warranty is distant history.
Thanks

Why not is my reply.
I did it many years ago on a ford cortina.
As it's non standard should you notify your insurance company????

I have 195x55/16 on my 2019 Sport and I think it should be the standard size, looks better and protects your rims

Tyre sizes are on the label on your Jazz for Tues pressures , if your thinking of going off those factory sizes it's your choice and  need to check with current insurers.

Thanks All,
Does not seem to be any downside. At my age spirited driving is a mere memory, so handling not a problem and may well be improved.

Hi.
If you have any issues with insurance at all for a change in tyres then please feel free to drop me a line.
Regards,
Dan.
