Compare the market said £760 fully comp 20k mile allowance if my car stays as it is, £354 if i take the alloys off and £840 if i already had the bodykit, exhaust system and respray i want

oh forgot to mention - last years quote was £414 with only 8k miles without alloys at teh time (now the insurance has been bumped up to  20k miles and a cost of £160 extra so £560 in total but no extra added to the insurance for the alloys being fitted) so a £200 difference, just glad the insurance isnt due until July..hopefully itll have come down by then (or the current company can hopefully do a better quote since they dont seem to care about the alloys)

Recently had my renewal notice from LV and reading the personal details noticed I had not told them that I had recently retired. I informed them and also stated that my annual mileage would reduce form 10,000 to 8000. The result was that my premium increased by £5 to £170 fully comp. This includes a discount for having my house insurance with the same company. I live in Devon. I have not bothered to get any other quotes as I don't imagine that I would save much.

So since I started this thread, I had various mods carried out.

Doesnt look like i updated this post last year with my mods but just renewed with Admiral again for £280 which was the cheapest I could find- the renewal quote was actually £340 so i had to do a bit of leg work (get various quotes and go on comparison websites) then asked Admiral if they could price match / beat it

Driving instructor policy, any driver over 16 on or off road, £450 fully comprehensive, was £399 last year for a two year old Astra.
This year £385, DOWN £65. :D

down for me too.... by £30.... direct line renewal was £340.... rang up to question it and it magically transpired that the house insurance discount hadn't been applied. £310 for 12k a year. however, got a quote for my mums GE (she doesn't know she's selling yet....) £284.... work that out!

Males should see a reduction, females an increase after EU ruling  not that men are superior to women - sorry for  that ;D-but  insurers cannot discriminate on the grounds of sex..

I must be lucky as mine has reduced £40 to £150 this year. Not even going to bother shopping around. So will stay with Esure.

My insurance on my "new" 2008 Jazz cost £260 because I had been driving a Motability leased car for the last 3 years & NCB only last for 2 years max & therefore mine had run out.  >:(

Insured with Age UK  (who use Aegas)  allowed 3 years bonus, full comp....£100 excess....courtesy car, me & missus driving

Good news is that yesterday RSA (Motability ins company) sent me a letter saying I have a minimum of 5 yrs claim free driving, passed this over to current ins company & have a verbal agreement that this will restore my bonus to the full amount available.
Just waiting for the refund cheque to arrive now  ;D

As a comparison,  the last car I insured was a 1.6 Golf Match 4 years ago now & last premium was £189 with protected bonus etc...

Where's that bloody cheque  ;)

Just an update on the previous post.

£50 refund on premium with the confirmation from RSA.................. ;D

Brings the cost for the "basic" premium down to £190 (comprehensive) ................... for some reason I let them sell me the insurance cover for legal costs  :-[

Someone I have never hear of is usually owned by someone you have heard of .. or sells their policies.
