Yes, buy yourself an OBD reader, they can be had for little more than £10, and see what the fault codes are.  YouTube will show how to use the reader,  very simple and could save you loads if you can identify the fault  yourself.
Come back to the forum once you get the codes and folk will almost certainly be able to help.

Car has been fully rustproofed using Corrolan wax, professionally applied, two and a half days work, very thorough job.

Take care when lubricating clutch pedal pivot and clevis pin, you don't want oil or grease dropping on the pedal, Mrs Beanbag may not be amused. Make sure to lube the slave cylinder where piston pushes the clutch operating lever.

It will have some sort of thrust bearing between the static release  mechanism  and the rotating clutch . The clutch may be released hydraulically, or mechanically with pivots, levers, release  forks etc.

If you are lucky the squeak may be from external hinges, return springs etc  on the clutch  pedal  etc that might improve with some lubrication  .

If the squeak comes from the clutch mechanisms within the bell housing  itself it might only be cured with a replacement clutch.   And its normally good good practice to take the opportunity to replace all 3 parts, whether they need it or not. Pressure plate, friction plate and thrust bearing  .  And possibly also the release hydraulics.
Or maybe the clutch will remain serviceable for a long time yet if you can tolerate the squeak.     I would  describe a worn clutch release bearing as a sort of continuous rumbling all the time you are pressing on the clutch pedal, rather than a brief squeak as you press or release it.

I agree with madasafish.

Sometimes a fault code will cause a car to  place itself into 'limp mode' , deliberately  supressing the power so you can limp home or to a garage,  but unlikely to ignore the fault  and potentially damage the engine.
But the cause of the problem(s)  might still be an easy fix.

Could be a variety of causes.. Get the fault codes read.. (You may be cheaper to buy a c heap code reader an read them yourself... or borrow one)

Likely EGR valve dirty
Air filter dirty
MAP sensor dirty
Worn plugs
Faulty engine sensor/sensors - there are a  lot...
Exhaust catalyst blocked..

etc.

Hello all,

We have a new problem with our 2014 Jazz  :(

As we were driving home the engine light came on, and the car wouldn't go above a certain rev/speed it seemed. It also sounded a bit rough at times - almost like a little misfire (I wasn't driving so can't say exactly how it felt to handle). It started when we slowed down behind a cyclist and may have been labouring a little bit before the light came on.

The light had a large engine image in the central display, and the yellow engine indicator (on the left in the rev counter area) was flashing.

I know there could be several things at fault here but any common problems for this age of Jazz? Please don't let this be the end of the little fella! Hopefully it's something that can be sorted :'(

Thanks,
 Tom
