Central locking on rear boot

Hi

The lock on the rear hatch of my 03 jazz will not open - the boot is permanently locked shut.  The central locking works on all other doors.  Is there any way to open the boot manually?  There is a hole in the plastic interior trim to the boot with what looks like a lever inside but I still cannot get the rear hatch to unlock.  Any suggestions?

i had a similar problem on my 2004 Jazz. the reason why it wont open is beacuse the rear lever is stuck in the open position which mean when you open the car with the central locking it will think your holding it causing the boot to lock it self instead of unlocking. i found that my lever was seized up so i sprayed some wd40 to make it springy again. before i sprayed the wd40 i managed to push the lever back and then i unlocked the car again with remote and hey presto.

Many thanks for the advice - sorry it took so long to reply but I,ve been away & only managed to fix the car this afternoon.  As you said, the lever in the wrong position was the problem.  I think the reason it kept returning to a "central" position was that the flap used to open the boot had become stiff.  Once I had opened the rear hatch using your advice I had to remove the internal trim.  I eventually found that I had to manually return the opening link cable to a fully shut position for the central locking to unlock on the boot.  Without doing this it would lock, then try to unlock but the lever would not stay far enough across.  Hopefully a bit more WD40 around the opening handle sho ;Duld do the trick.  Many thanks again.
