Intermittent gearbox fault (automatic) 2004 jazz

Hi I have tried searching this problem on here but unsuccessfully. My mum has an auto Jazz and a couple of times has had to call out the AA as found it difficult to take out of park. Any ideas?

I have heard of a switch or solenoid causing this issue, more likely something of that scale than a fault with the gearbox itself. 
Question is - what does the AA patrol do to get her going?  Just clear the fault code?  Sensor faults will often log a fault code that is not serious enough to illuminate the check engine light.  If you can identify that then the fix should be reasonably inexpensive and swift. 

An ELM327 OBDII bluetooth adapter hooked up to a smartphone with an app such as Torque is handy in these circumstances.

Thanks for the response. I do not know what he did but his note said"difficult to get out of park. Retested but would not select."
He followed her to local Honda garage where car was left overnight and next day they did a diagnostic and simply reset systems. So none the wiser? Fault happened again two days later but when I got to her car was ok again, so I have not yet seen the actual fault.
