Automatic headlights switch off themselves!
« on: November 07, 2016, 09:53:29 PM »
I was driving the Jazz last night and I did not want the automatic high beams to be active so I switched them off by putting the switch on headlights only. When I got home and put the car in the garage it beeped at me as I got out, but as I am not used to the car and it is always beeping for no reason I ignored it.  Came to it this morning thinking I may have left the lights on, but no the car had automatically switched the lights off! Even though the switch was still in the headlights on position. So there is a case that the car can switch the lights off itself.

The lights (and radio) turn themselves off to protect the battery level. Would you rather have your lights off or a flat battery?

Wrong action. You can switch off the auto high beam feature by lifting the stalk towards you for a few seconds. It's the same action as flashing the lights manually.

Also remember the lights have a "see you home" feature whereby they stay on for a short time after you've locked up and walked away, so this may have been what was happening. You can adjust the delay time in the settings, so if yours is set with a longish delay you may well have been able to close the garage before the lights went out.

It also switches the auto high beam back on. I expect more lights related discoveries as the evenings become darker, then it will be " My air con doesn't work, it has been off all winter".
