Jazz SE Plus 1.4 CVT 2015 (Mk2)
Anyone fitted Daytime Running Lights either as an add-on or by converting the standard lights to come on with the ignition?
The SE Plus has a front skirt and has no facility for front fog lights, so fitting DRLs may not be as easy on this model!

Not so. Only vehicles issued with type certification after that date.  The Mk2 had its cert from before that.

My understanding is that the regulations only apply to new models which come out after the regulation is issued, otherwise manufacturers would have to stop selling their current stock and change their design and production process.  No way the industry would agree to that!

I believe the latest one states that running lights should come on with the ignition and go off when other lights are turned on.  If you fit them now, to a model that didn't previously have them, you will be required to meet the current regulation.

No DRLs on Mk2s but I understand they are/were available from Honda as a dealer-fit accessory, I remember them illustrated in the brochure when researching the apparent deletion of the flappy paddles towards the end of the Mk2's life cycle.

Also, what I used to do with my Jazz was replace the sidelight bulbs with bright LED bulbs, and make sure sidelight are switched on whenever you drive, this has the added bonus of having your rear lights on which gives you DRLs at the back as well.
These are the bulbs I used http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-x-38-SMD-LED-501-T10-W5W-Side-Number-Plate-Interior-Light-SUPER-BRIGHT-/371617353535?hash=item56861ecf3f:g:RrUAAOSw~oFXKmAI

My brother in law had them fitted by Bristol Honda on his new 14 regSE Plus Jazz. They are in a purpose built black plastic housing under the headlights and wired to work as regulations.

They dim when you turn on the side lights, though there is no regulation requiring this.
Regulations covering DRLs are ECEr48 & ECEr87.  These rules cover positioning, intensity, colour temperature, spread and combinations/modes of car lighting.
e.g. positioning: minimum 600mm apart and between 250mm & 1500mm from the road surface, plus 40mm away from turn signals

TG

Thanks i don't make cars and thus do not need to get UN approval ;) regulations are always important but so is checking if there applicable.

All I have to worry about is MOT's of which DRL's at not part of.
