As one gets older, cynicism becomes almost a constant companion.
Yesterday, I decided to check all the brakes prior to it's MOT. The weather didn't help so I just managed one rear brake.I removed the caliper mounting bolts and pads, cleaned it all up and gave it all a coat of brake grease. I was surprised to find that the rear brake pads fitted are made by Textar. On removing the anti squeal plate I found Honda printed. So I decided just for reference to look up the availability of Textar pads for the Jazz. Absolute dead end. I have found a Textar book with all the pads listed but guess what nothing for the Jazz. Fit yes but no Jazz. Is this a ploy by Honda UK to stop the fitting of OE parts from their manufacturer OR where can I find the comparison chart for Jazz/Fit brake fitment. Yes I know I can fit other makes but given the 'sensitivity' of Jazz brakes it would be nice to fit the same without paying Honda prices. Incidently, all the sites that claim to carry Textar have out of stock for the Jazz.
Yes the obvious answer is to take the caliper off and check the numbers.
This surely must be a post for some ideas.
