Honda Jazz 09 lock doors

Dear Friends
I have my new Jazz since one wek ago. I saw some other Forums in USA and Brasil and they talk in a way to put the jazz locking the doors when they are at 15km/h. Mine does not do this. Is ist possible in the Europe models ? Does yours do this ?

It seems to be a standard thing for US cars to lock their doors at 15mph. I don't know of any European model which does this.

That's the one biggie I miss from my Mercedes 'A' Class!

Personally, I hate any kind of 'automation' on cars whether it is lights that turn themselves on every time you go under a bridge, windscreen wipers that spring into frantic action on dry windcreens, or the automatic locking of doors when you leave the car etc. etc.

If someone is in charge of a car they should be a responsible person who I would expect (as a minimum requirement) to be able to know when the lights need to be turned on, when it is raining, and that they should lock the door when they leave the car (and when they are in it if thats what they want).

I am glad that we have not reached such an advanced state of paranoia yet in UK and Europe as some countries, where we need to lock our car doors all the time for fear of the bogeyman getting us.

No, my Jazz doesn't autolock but I think it must be a question of programming - there's a sticky in the www.fitfreak.net forum called "unlock my doors, please" with a guide to control these settings. When you tried it, please let us know if it works

I discovered the same feature on my old Renault when I had the battery disconnected and it suddenly started locking the doors when driving! Fortunately the dealer fixed it in seconds by reprogramming the button

BTW: If anyone finds a way to activate the locks before closing the doors please let me know - it is extremely annoying to have to get the key out of the pocket again after taking things out of the boot and closing the hatch!

I usually agree that I do not need to much automatic thing in my car,... (I have a Ford Galaxy TDI), but this new Jazz is my wife car, so she likes all sensors and so on,...
I try the information in the other site, and did not work (or I´m makeing something wrong). I know that in Brasil it works, because I saw also a Jazz forum. I question is if there are any electronic diferences in Jazz (european model ) and Fit (USA and Japan model ). Does any one know some manuals or instrutions. In the USA and Brasilian client manual there are the instrutions how to do it, but it is not very clear. They told it works in manual and automatic cars.
I will try it again in other ways (door open, door close,... Window open,....)

I tried it today and couldn't get it to work either. According to the instructions the lock should "click", but mine doesn't. I tried with the gear in neutral, first, clutch pressed/released, breaks pressed/released etc. but no luck

So either none of us can read instructions or there is actually a difference from the american models.

...but more annoying lock your keys in the boot.

OK, you'll never do it, but I know plenty who have, including a colleague in a Mercedes when 200 miles from home. My FIL did it several times in his Ford Focus but he's ex-Army so he just calls us and orders us to bring his spare key!

This feature doesn't seem to be in the firmware of European models.

I had a ride in a colleague's 2009 Jazz RS, here in Indonesia last weekend. His doors lock as soon as you turn on the ignition! Mind you, here it's a necessity as there are hoardes of folk at each set of traffic lights trying to sell you bits of rubbish or just plain begging. If you don't have your doors locked you soon find yourself accompanied by uninvited guests! The owner of the car said it has been set like that since he bought the car, he didn't have to do any reprogramming or anything like that to make it lock. However, all cars here under 5 or 6 years old seem to have this feature.
