Spare wheel

Hello all

Newbie here, I expect to collect my Manual SE sometime in the next couple of weeks so looking forward to that !

This'll be my first car ever without a spare wheel, so I'm thinking about whether I'm happy with that. The dealer price for a spare is north of £220 so if I do want one I'll probably look for a cheaper alternative, but I want to be sure about the spec of what I'm buying. I already have a jack & wheel brace (liberated from a previous car that went for scrap) so I just need the wheel. I assume I need to know or decide about the following, can anyone fill in the blanks for me:

1. The official spare is a space-saver, but (from the picture posted in this thread) it looks like a full-size wheel will fit in the well ?
2. Wheel size is 15 inch, 4 studs/bolts ?
3. Does anyone know the PCD of the stud/bolt holes ? Is this standard across all makes/models, do I need to worry about it ?
4. Do all makes/models have standard size bolt/stud holes, ie should I be worrying about the size of the holes ?
5. Dealer mentioned that they have to install a bracket to hold the spare securely in the well. Does anyone have this, is it essential ?
6 Does it matter if the spare is steel (I'm not fussed about appearance, just whether it's safe to have 3 alloys and one steel temporarily) ?

rather than pay a lot for a space saver spare I bought a full set of Nokian winter tyres on steel rims from mytyres.co.uk for £328 + delivery,  full size winter spare in summer and summer spare in winter.  And a full size spare will easily fit in wheel well with room to spare,  you will just need a short length of M8 allthread and a wingnut + a 75mm square plate about 3mm thick to secure the wheel down.

there is information in the above post to correct winter tyres and wheels on mytyres site - but
Honda GG6   
WIDTH  5-1/2 J 
PCD 4 x 100 (4 studs on 100mm circle) 
ED (offset of bolting face to centre of rim) 45mm    (this will change between 15 and 16" rims as rims are different widths)
SPIGOT diameter (hole in the centre of wheel that fits over boss on hub) 56.1mm
is what you need to get.

As long as you drive with reasonable care mixing 1 summer or winter tyre with others for a short time until a repair can be made will not give a problem, and don't worry about mixing a full size tyre on steel rim with alloys  as any full size spare  will be safer than driving on a 'wheelbarrow' tyre spacesaver.

You could just buy only the one full size steel wheel (rim and tyre) for about £85 from mytyres.

For a Mk 2 Jazz, you can buy the Honda bolt and bracket from Honda for (I think) about £15. It is all hardly difficult to fit/ install.

Many thanks for all the info and links to other posts. However, perhaps my original Q wasn't quite clear that I was asking about the new 2015 model (I think that's the Mk 3 ?) and all the info I can find refers to the Mk.2. Even MyTyres doesn't seem to list it yet. Can anyone positively confirm that the spec for the Mk3 wheels, and the bracket for securing it in the well, are identical to the Mk2 ?

Buy a Dunlop space saver spare wheel.
About £70 - £80 or so.
It fits the new mk3 Jazz.You will need a screw down pin and a washer.
Then when you have your new Jazz ask the supplier to modify the polystyrene block so that it fits over the tyre and supports the boot floor carpet.
That to me is better than going on back order for a jack and tyre etc at £173 approx.
I transferred my space saver from mk2 Jazz to my new one.
