Stainless steel sill plates
« on: December 18, 2014, 03:29:50 PM »
I would like to fit some stainless steel sill plates on our Jazz. They were a great help on our old Rover stopping scuffing of the paint on the sills.
However, I am not very keen to pay the prices quoted for the genuine  Honda sill plates.
Digging around on E bay, two firms have popped up with what appear to be ridiculously cheap prices.
One is in India called Shopping.rediff. com   Quoted at Rs 1,027 which in pounds Sterling is circa £10
The other is AliBaba which is Chinese and they have them quoted at I think $38 US. Considerably cheaper than UK prices.  Any thoughts about these seemingly good offers. I can see the Chinese ones would attract HM Customs and Excise as they come out over £20.

I bought these some time ago, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-DOORS-STAINLESS-STEEL-SILL-SCUFF-PLATE-FOR-HONDA-JAZZ-FIT-YEAR-2008-2013-TRIM-/281113973938?ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:GB:3160   .I fitted the fronts and they have been fine, been fitted for a year with no problems. The rears are a bit square and the jazz sill is slightly curved , so as nobody goes in the back of my car I didn't fit the rears.  I paid £29.99 including postage ,my best offer was accepted and they didn't take too long to travel across the world. I think they look OK, not as good as the genuine Honda article, but a lot cheaper !

I have just ordered a set off ebay, offered £25 and it was accepted, coming from Thailand I think, look pretty smart in the photo, nice to see what they're like in the flesh as my Jazz is red too.

Steve Z,
I wonder if you could be kind enough to tell me which firm you got them from.

I had seen the 'light up type' but I merely want them to  protect the paintwork.

I bought these on e-bay from a company in Thailand and they arrived in about a week
http://www.ebay.com/itm/DOOR-SILL-HONDA-JAZZ-2008-STAINLESS-STEEL-SCUFF-PLATE/170502829248?_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D28797%26meid%3Dfd7b7101dbaf48d697459c904a7b4aac%26pid%3D100033%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26sd%3D170502829248
They were much better quality than I was expecting and to be honest I couldn't fault them at all. They fitted perfectly and have been on now for three years and show no sign of coming loose. If I remember correctly they use a good quality 3M adhesive pad to secure them, but be careful as you only get one chance to fit them as the adhesive sticks instantly! I cleaned the sill with some brake cleaner first to make sure there was no grease on there.
Hope this helps

UK dealers should be reducing stock on Jazz items once the new model is launched in the summer, so keep watching on E bay.

Hi, if anyone wants a set of sill protectors I have just put a set on E Bay similar to the above. (ref 121803719634). I bought them 3 years ago when I purchased my new Jazz but have never fitted them as scuffing of the sills has not been a problem. It is unlikely I will fit them now so have decided to sell them. They have sat in may garage in original packaging and are as new.
