My neighbour (who is the workshop manager at Honda) says the doors on all Jazz models should lock when you have covered 100m from stationary.  As far as he knows it is standard throughout the Honda range

its probably standard in some counties like RSA and USA - in UK we don't really need to lock our car doors when we are in the car (not yet anyway).
So far, we in UK are at lower risk of getting robbed or cars hijacked, while waiting at the traffic lights.

Personally, I don't like the idea of the car imprisoning me and my passengers.

The NHS expenses computer would have a heart attack if I put 10 miles on each trip :o

I do get quite a lot of 'EV' running, more than I expected to get, trouble is the engine stays on at around 1100 revs, so it is not as cost free as, say a Toyota would be.

The doors don't auto lock on either of our UK spec. cars. Might be useful in some parts of the country though, and I would think essential in cities in SA. I probably would press the door lock button if I was going into London and had to sit in slow traffic. To protect the boot if nothing else.

Generally so, but there are some cities (or areas thereof) where that it would be strongly advised to do so.

My Jazz bought in France, was made in Japan and as far as I'm aware the doors don't lock automatically.

I "think" or "I was totally confused" when I had started the car after taking grand kids to the swimming pool and realised I had left my wallet in the boot that whilst I left the engine running I nipped round to the boot and it was locked. Car stationary with engine ticking over. I went back, turned engine off and boot opened fine. Maybe because I was rushing I tried to open the boot with the number plate light  :-[ or indeed it was locked. haven't tried since but it being locked made sense to my feeble brain and just accepted it.
