noise somewhere from transmission/drive/engine.

Hi, my 55 plate H-Jazz 1.4 [ 77,000 on clock ], that I purchased 14 months ago has a fairly loud noise that only happens when I put my foot down and accelerate [ more prominent in 1st gear ].
if I ease my foot back or just drive normal, the sound disappears, is this normal or a fault?
I read somewhere that Honda increased the warranty to 10 years because they knew of a fault. Can any one throw some light on this? cheers Geoff.

Hi, What sort of a noise, rattling, rumbling, whining etc.? Is it only when driving or when stationary as well? The possibilities are endless, it could be the exhaust, engine, clutch etc. Try to listen with windows open to try to find the general location of the noise.

Well, my experience of gearbox issues are that the 'rattle' goes if you depress the clutch, and it is prominent in gears 1-3 at any speed, so it doesn't sound like that from what you say. As, above, there could be a number of reasons for the noise, could it be induction?
I found some conkers in the air box of our blue 1.2, which rattled loudly. I can only think that they were picked up into the air intake when the car was driven down a country lane or ? They were lodged under the air filter in the housing, so noises can come from some odd sources.
