I bought a copy of Car Mechanics magazine (previously mentioned by interlock) with the write up of the Jazz, and it also had a survey of the major motoring marques with regard to rust. The Jazz came through (you'll be pleased to hear) without any major trouble spots.

If members have any experiences of rust on their Jazzes it may be of interest to others here.

I know I've seen several city car models from a Malaysian manufacturer with rust stains coming from side quarter window seals.

Hi There,

Have an 04 Jazz and have quite serious rust on the inside top of the off side rear door.  Just starting to get it on the near side rear door as well.

Regards,

Andrew

I currently have a 56 plate GD with no rust on any of the original bodywork.
There was, however, rust on the bottom of the nearside front door that was repaired after a car park hit after which the door skin was replaced.
I noticed it after the three year warranty on the work done had expired by one week. The body shop, that the insurers insisted that I use, weren't interested saying, repeatedly, that it was out of warranty even though they agreed that the rust couldn't have happened in the last week.
The insurers weren't interested either but they didn't get my repeat business.

Vic.

...quite serious rust on the inside top of the off side rear door...

Interesting, I had a car (not Jazz) that had rust forming behind the rubber seals at the top of the rear doors. I guess water just settled there as rear doors weren't used that much. I sanded off most of the loose rust and painted over with Krust as a base coat and then Hammerite as top coat (colour match not important as couldn't be seen behind rubber seal.)

Yes, whenever I have to take my car to someone else to get work done I'm always thinking are they going to do a quality job or just a slap dash job. If you're not there when they do the work you don't know what kind of work practices they use. It's only down the line that the truth emerges!
