I have a 2004 Honda Jazz with 94000 miles on it. Just recently it has been jumping/slipping occasionally between 18 and 22mph, 28 and 32mph, and 38 and 40mph. and only when I am going 1.5 to 2.5 rpms. Anything above that it is fine. It seems like when it is changing gear but I am unsure. I have flushed the cvt fluid out and it still persists. I talked to the Honda garage and they told me it would be £10000 :o to replace transmission. I don't know what to do I still owe money on it, and it runs fine this, please help.

Hi there

Same thing used to happen to mine at 91K. Was very worried it was the transmission then one day it lurched and totally stalled on A-road, luckily the engine management light had come on. The code pulled showed it was a bad crankshaft sensor, spoke to my local independant garage who told me to order the part from Honda and he'd install it. IIRC the sensor cost £68+Vat. He only charged me £10 for installation. Car has been right as rain sinse.

Can you connect the car to an OBD-II diagnostic machine anywhere?  I think your Honda garage was just taking a guess.  Always check the simple things first, as the above post suggests

I keep getting reply's on other forums about jazz's shuddering when taking off, but that isn't what mine is doing. Would a diagnostic work if there is no fault light on the dash? I originally thought it was the transmission but the more I drive about it the more I drive it the more confused I get. I am hoping it is the IIRC sensor, or maybe the spark plugs need to be changed. I have also read about the ECG valve causing problems. Thank you Hasan yours is the best information yet, I hope it works will let you know.

IIRC = If I Remember Correctly ;-)

The actual sensor was the crankshaft sensor.

Do let us know how you get on.

Hello all,
      Since my last reply I have cleaned the EGR valve and that seemed to do the trick. I also replaced the Sparkplugs but I drove the car after I cleaned the EGR and it felt much better. Now I am pretty happy she is running like a beaut, but I am a bit pissed at the Honda garage I took my car. They charged me £70 for their expertise and a diagnostic and proceeded to tell me it was my fault for putting dexron III transmission fluid in when it clearly states in my owners manual that it was a suitable substitute. It said nothing about a CVT transmission. Then they tell me I have to get it flushed for another £150 and it could make it worse, and if that didn't fix it I would have to get a new transmission for £10,000. Is that not insane, a new jazz only cost £12,000. I just feel they didn't care and only wanted me to pay for services I didn't need. Now my dilemma is to figure out how to go about this.
Any way thank you for all your help fellas.
