Torsion bar or not??

Was just wondering what the rear of my jazz is?? Is it a torsion bar or not it's a 54 plate gd jazz thanks!!!!

all ive found say "torsion beam rear suspension" so that would be a yes i think

I have coil springs on the rear of my 53 Jazz. However if you are very pedantic a coil spring works by twisting the material so is in effect a torsion bar.... But in common terms it is coil sprung at the rear.

You are correct in saying that there is a torsion beam connecting the wheels. If both wheel move up together then the beam does not twist. However if only one wheel rises then the beam will twist. This is effectively the anti roll bar.

If you wish to change the roll rate then in theory you could stiffen or soften the torsion beam.

If you wish to lower your Jazz buy a set of Eibachs springs. They will bolt straight on easily.

Torsion bars are normally dead easy to lower. They are normally splined on the ends so you just move the bar round one spline and it is lowered with no additional parts to buy.

No, the '02 to '08 Jazz (GD) has a beam axle with compact rear spring and separate shock absorber. You can easily lower the car by fitting new springs.

Get coilovers, they are more rewarding than just springs.

I got Tein basic with spoon rigid collar kit. Very good combination
