Passenger airbag cut-off switch
« on: March 14, 2012, 08:51:53 PM »
Hi all.
We are collecting our new-to-us 2002 SE Sport on Saturday.
It's a one owner 63000 m , full Honda history, very clean ,despite being
an early car [206478]

First question here: Does it have a passenger airbag switch, and if not,can
one be fitted?
[searched here but no topic results]

Current Jazz has one. It's located on the end of the dash facing the passenger door. It's only visible with the door open and is operated by the ignition key!

Hi Nigel, I have a 2002 Jazz also. It doesn't have a switch to turn off the passenger airbag.
I'm not sure how legal/safe it is to fit your own switch, but i personally wouldn't try.
If an airbag is disconnected, the airbag module will know and throw a light up on the dash. You can get round this by disconnecting the battery, removing the airbag and fitting a 2ohm resistor in its place, but this isn't a viable option if you want to do this regularly.

Is your query because you want to fit a baby carrier in the front? If so, there is a sticker on the windscreen telling you not to do that.

Steve.

Thanks Steve.

It's my partner who wanted this info, and yes,she wants to have
the option to fit a child seat there.
I'll take your advice [and Honda's!] that it's not advisable to do that.

Cheers.

This is where my switch is on my 2002, although I dont know if the original owner had it in as an optional extra or not, but im pretty sure she didnt..
