loud metallic rattling noise from engine 06 1.4 cvt

There is a loud rattling noise coming from the drivers side of the engine as if something is loose and which slightly lessens with increase in revs but does not go away only done 26,500 miles this seems to have come on in a matter of 2 weeks not over a period of time, any ideas please?

I might well be wrong, but it could be that the cam chain is loose for some reason. A friend had same symptom (on another make of car), neglected to get it checked out and ended up with broken valves... expensively broken engine.

Just had it to the Garage semms it's the waterpump

thats a bit short life for a water pump, im shocked by that

at least with chain cam you dont have to have an expensive cam belt removal as well
