dashcam....
« on: November 04, 2026, 12:26:58 AM »
due to the bulky sensors behind the rear view mirror, where is the best position for a dashcam?

....and rear window camera?

where have you got yours?

The best place for the front cam is where Honda fit their offering

On the passenger side just to the left of the rearview mirror housing and as high as possible
Let's be careful out there !

At the risk of stating the obvious, it should be within the area swept by the wipers.

Id use the 12.2 setting just to be on the safe side.

I have mine just to the left of the mirror on passenger side. Hardwired into a piggyback fuse from fusebox.
It has built in low battery protection, and has never given any problems. Infact it's a bonus as it keeps the battery voltage low enough so the stupid start stop never works. Starting and stopping the engine all the time like that is a quick way to engine wear.

As above, you need to make sure the dashcam lens is within the swept area or in heavy rain, etc you will record nothing useful

Plus, avoid the drivers side as it may fail the MOT
Let's be careful out there !

I spent years on the DashCamTalk website

I scanned all new posts, like you do, like some do, and got an insight into the good and bad

The one piece of advice that I followed, and rung true from numerous posts, was to avoid the dashcams on a stalk, in an accident they tend to swing on the stalk and end up pointing either up or down, depending on how it's been installed

Go for the wedge shaped ones that are rock solid

The other often posted about complaint was the manufacturers insisting on an 'endurance' card. In practice these cards were slower (it's the write speed that matters) and caused significant problems on multi camera setups where you have 2 or 3 cameras all trying to write to a single card
Let's be careful out there !
