Weird problems with Wireless Android Auto
« on: September 21, 2026, 09:48:22 PM »
My Jazz (Advance 2023) had the android auto Wi-Fi activated and worked flawlessly for the first week. Today it behaved strangely on either phone in its inventory, a Samsung S23 and a Pixel 8 pro.

The phones connected correctly but the navigator would not start a route... just stayed on the loading screen and until it dropped. Anything else played fine like Spotify. Waze had the same behaviour, it just would not start a route. If I started the route on the phone it stayed there for a few seconds on the infotainment and then it would drop out to the map without a route.

This is very weird as nothing was changed as far as I know. It must have to do with the connection itself since it had the same symptoms with 2 different phones when they were fine yesterday. I didn't find an option to clear the app cache memory on the Android auto infotainment in the car itself, only a "force stop".

I tried to forget the phone and re connect, and tried to restart the phone but it did not work. I suspect the data transmission or some interference or even an update on the phone side, but I don't know. I wonder if this has happened before to anyone, I haven't read anything like that here. It looks like a connection issue to me, I was reading that it needs a good 5Ghz connection Wifi to work.

If issue repeats tomorrow I will try:

- Connection with USB
- Force Restarting infotainment
- Use on board navigator for a while and switch back to Android Auto (other user did this after some glitches)
- Check the infotainment engineering menu again to see if something changed
- Factory reset infotainment (last resort)

I had an older MY22 and wireless was OK once connected but the initial connection was 50/50

Once I switched to wired (make sure you have a good quality data cable) it was flawless and even connected before the initial nag screen had expired
Let's be careful out there !

Even now a MY22 car is hit-and-miss with Android Auto Wireless. There have been two software updates in the last year for the headend (screen) which have improved things a bit, but it still goes through periods where the phone says it's connected Android Auto but the headend hasn't kicked in.

A good USB cable will connect about 95% of the time; wireless is about 75% of the time.

Wireless AA isn't even offered as standard on the MY22: you have to enable it in a hidden menu. That says something about Honda's confidence in it. I've never had any problems with Wireless AA on other brands of car.

Update

I managed to fix it for now, but will leave a data cable in the car just in case. Don't know what exactly fixed it, what I did was clear the data on the maps app in the infotainment and go into to the factory hidden menu and turned off and back on again wireless android auto. Also forcing Bluetooth connection on the phone side to the infotainment helps. Had to pair the phone again but the navigation in google maps works now, maybe this could be useful for others.
