This summer I have been making lots of trips to the dump with garden rubbish. The car now has more than its fair share of resident spiders. Leaving webs every where. I can probably sort the external ones living in wing mirrors,and inside wiper arms etc . Indeed I have scooped at least two spiders off external webs and watched them scuttle off towards someone elses car
But I am getting internal webs on the dashboard etc.That keep reappearing. The spiders must be hiding in vents etc. And may be laying eggs for new generations to inhabit a Jazz micro eco system. Its little consolation that they may be beneficial by eating other insect residents.
I have read that strong smelling essential oils such as peppermint, and citrus works quite well as a deterent ,and can leave an aroma that is pleasant for humans. (except spiderman) But I am worried I might stink the car out, or it leaves a residue or damages plastic etc Especially if using fly spray type chemical insecticides.
Before I risk trying essential oils has anyone any suggestions, actual experience ,or warnings ? Or advice on dilution strength . I would prefer to make the Jazz a hostile environment to small creatures rather than a killing chamber.
Things may improve anyway as winter is coming, the garden is largely sorted and I have finally made room to park in my garage rather than next to bushes.
