I too was taught to drive like this, positioning the car for the best possible view rather than rigidly staying on 'your ' side of road. In the absence of oncoming traffic, or someone behind me, I  will typically drive along the centre of a narrow country road, or even on the wrong side of the road if it helps see round bends, or very close to the side of the road  if that helps.   But its an advanced driving technique that requires an advanced level of observation and hazard awareness .

My main objection to lane assist, is it's an "app" that's trying to replace decades of points free driving experience.

I have experienced this as well, not sure if I like it that much.  But I heard some stories about Skoda interfering with what they call Predictive Adaptive Cruise Control (pACC). That they are driving 100km/h and that the car sees a 30km/h sign somewhere (on another road) and that it suddenly drops in speed to 30km/h.  As far as I know the Honda Jazz does not have this. We have ACC but not pACC.

If that's how the Skoda system works then it'll cause much frustration at the school signs which show a reduced limit IF the lights are flashing.

I've only seen one sign where the displayed limit value changes for the school crossing, and that was in Milford Haven.

And the fool is the RDMS, I've never had occasion when I've benefited from the RDMS, the opposite is true, on occasions I have considered it quite dangerous.

There seems to be confusion of terminology in this thread. LKAS is off by default, as Kremmen pointed out. I switch it on with cruise control on long dual carriageway trips. RDMS is more problematic, but I don’t turn it off as it is protection against dozing off on a long run.
